MICHELLE YEOH...Queen of Asian Cinema

For those of you who know who Michelle is...you already know she is the reigning Queen of
Chinese action films. She played the foil to Pierce Bronson's James Bond in "Tomorrow Never
Dies", and was the star of the award winning "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" with Chow Yun Fat.
You can go to her website to keep up with her past and present at http://michelleyeoh.info/Movie/index.html

Here are some recommended films if you are just getting into this genre and love subtitles like me.
I've been into these films since the chop socky era of the 70's, the sound effects were dumb, but
by the 80's the films got better. By the late 80's...that would be the beginning of the best of the action
flicks, regardless of whether it was contemporary or the Dynasty time periods. From 1990-1997 before
Hong Kong was retuned to China...some of the absolute best films were made. In the past few years
the films like Hero, Silverhawk, So Close, and House Of Flying Daggers are making some noise.

The Killer: John Woo directs Chow Yun Fat and Danny Lee in a classic.
Legend Of Drunken Master: Jackie Chan at his finest. Few do it better.
Hero: Jet Li, Maggie Cheung, Zhang Ziyi. Brilliant in scenery and action.
God Of Gamblers: Chow Yun Fat kills in this one. Sequel was just ok.
So Close: Shu Qi is phenomenal as a hitwoman.
The Heroic Trio: Michelle Yeoh, Maggie Cheung, and the late Anita Mui.
Infernal Affairs 1,2,3: Andy Lau, Tony Lueng, Kelly Chen.
House Of Flying Daggers: Zhang Ziyi, Andy Lau in a spectacular love story.
Peace Hotel: Chow Yun Fat in a Chinese version of a Morricone western.
Fong Sai Yuk 1&2: Jet Li plays the legendary folk hero. Li at his best!

HERE ARE SOME MORE FOR YOU TO CHECK INTO IF YOU DESIRE TO.

Butterfly & Sword: Michelle Yeoh, Donnie Yen, Tony Leung, Joey Wang in a Dynasty period thriller.
Hard Boiled: Chow Yun Fat, Tony Leung...a John Woo classic.
Full Time KIller: Andy Lau in a contemporary Johnne To shoot 'em up.
Magnifent Warriors: Michelle Yeoh in a WWII action thriller.
Silver Hawk: Michelle Yeoh in her latest as a woman super hero. Better than Cat Woman.
Martial Angels: Shu Qi, Amanda Strang, and a host of upcoming Chinese women actors. Action!
Dragon Inn: Bridgett Lin, Maggie Cheung, Tony Leung, Donnie Yen in a fabulous Dynasty piece.
The Touch: Michelle Yeoh, Ben Chaplin, Brandon Chang. This is real good. Drama and action.
A Man Called Hero: Eric Cheng, Shu Qi in old school meets new school.

----of the newer genre...check these out----

Tokyo Raiders: Kelly Chen, Ekin Cheng, Cecilia Cheung, Tony Leung (he seems to be every flick-lol)
Naked Weapon: Maggie Q, Anya. Two women trained to be killers. It has some real good moments.
Skyline Cruisers: Leon Lai, Shu Qi, Jordan Chan. Contemporary action thriller

There is a fantastic website for classic martial arts film "Heroic Trio"
featuring MIchelle Yeoh, the late great Anita Mui, and Maggie Cheung.
